The new font goes with a simple and modern look, abandoning the Eagles' classic nameplate. I don’t really hate it, but I also don’t like just going with the times and updating something just because everyone else is doing it. Moving forward, the new look will be replacing the former Eagles wordmark in all forms of media and public-facing materials for the team. Honestly, the Eagles new wordmark looks like if the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets fonts had a baby. I’m not sure how much thought went into the new piece of branding but the “minimalist” look is definitely sweeping through sports teams. Just like the old saying goes, “if its not broke, don’t fix it.” This is a football city and we demand greatness. I understand the fact that the old one does look a bit outdated and that the new design is definitely more simplistic but in terms of an upgrade, I’m not sure if I can say that.
